Our experience with Mark Birdling of Ray White before, during and after our house sale.

We first knew Mark via a door knock one weekend back in March while renovating out late Dad’s house. He seemed very easy to chat to so we asked him to cast an eye over what we were doing. We asked if he knew of a reliable floor sander, he said he would ask around his colleagues for a recommendation. A week or so later he popped a note in with details of someone. We did end up using this tradesman and were not disappointed with the results.

I guess the seeds were sewn at that point for later that year. We eventually finished our project and set about asking prospective sales people from other companies to submit their marketing plans. Some of the proposals left us bemused and unsure, others were very well laid out but seemed to lack some kind of inspiration. It came down to two candidates. The decision was based on two factors in selecting Mark and Ray White. The previous year I had the sad task of selling my late Aunts house for our family and used a similar approach to find an agent. We ended up asking Ray White Ponsonby to take it to Auction, the results were astounding. Hence factor one was having already had a very good experience with Ray White.

Factor two was Mark’s easy to deal with nature backed by a solid knowledge and fresh approach.

We chose auction but were given all the information needed to make the choice over all the other options. The whole marketing process was relatively seamless and worked a treat. Three and a half weeks later, well in excess of 120 groups had been around to view our house, one open home lasting 1.5 hours not 30 mins due to the interest, they just kept arriving.

Mark had really gone the extra mile to ensure a successful auction. The big day arrived and the auction room at Avondale was packed. My wife and I felt so humble that this many people cared about our house. We were offered the services of the same auctioneer as we used for my Aunts auction. He deserves to be number one because he just makes it happen on the day. Happen it did, all our concerns about the reserves and bottom lines soon evaporated as bidding was very keen. The result just as astounding as a year or so earlier.

There were many winners on the day. Ourselves, the new owners, the auctioneer, Ray White Avondale, and Mark had to be so proud of his own performance. My wife and I are delighted he knocked on our door back in March. Better still, we bought our new house through Mark Birdling.
